Richard received his post-secondary education at the University of Manitoba, obtaining a Bachelor of Computer Science degree in 1987, a Masters Degree in Computer Science in 1989, and then a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1992.

Richard was called to the Manitoba bar in 1993 and practiced in Winnipeg until late 1997, where he gained extensive experience in personal injury law, medical malpractice, criminal law, family law, corporate litigation, aboriginal law, and contract law. Richard was called to the bar in Alberta in early 1998.

Before joining Rodin Law Firm in 2002, he practiced in Alberta in the area of insurance defence litigation, gaining valuable experience on the other side of personal injury litigation. At Rodin Law Firm he has continued to practice in all areas of personal injury litigation, including motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls, and medical and dental malpractice, as well as claims for disability insurance benefits.

Richard has successfully conducted trials and appeals in all levels of Courts in Alberta and Manitoba.

In August 2002, while enjoying an outstanding family day in a beautiful Calgary pathway, I was seriously injured and risked loss of limb. After meeting with Richard McRae, he eagerly took on the challenges of my case, taking me right from the initial discovery phase, to the Queen’s Bench of Alberta trial, to the Alberta Court of Appeal, followed by the application to the Supreme Court of Canada, and not to mention everything else in between. While this took several years to complete, Richard’s patience, his knowledge, dedication, and his utmost compassion left us with a very respectable settlement.
